Choquequirao whose meaning means (Cradle of Gold) is a partially excavated city that belongs to the Inca culture and is located in southern Peru, exactly in the region of Cusco. It has a striking similarity in structure and architecture to Machu Picchu and is known as the New Machu Picchu Inca city being a large but still covered with vegetation mostly. Today Choquequirao receives far fewer tourists to Machu Picchu, but the archaeological site is no less enchanting and is a good alternative to the much visited Machu Picchu. Unlike Machu Picchu, Choquequirao can not be reached by train or bus. The only way to visit the site is to walk from the village of Cachora about 4 hours bus from Cusco.
The walk lasts for 05 days this time of day for a good experience in Choquequirao is recommended that way you can visit the area long enough.
