One of the Apus (gods) protectors of the city of Cusco, Salkantay is one of many alternative paths Incas to Machu Picchu containing different natural settings. Mixing the dry side of the saw with the lush vegetation of the jungle department of Cusco.
DAY 1: MOLLEPATA - SORAYPAMPA
Pick up from hotel at 4:30 am to go by bus to Mollepata, passing through the towns of Limatambo Izcuchaca and after 3 hours of travel we reach Mollepata (2800m) after a light breakfast we begin our trek to the area called Cruzpata where we expect lunch with a beautiful panoramic view of the snow-capped Salkantay 6271m and 4120m Humantay. We continue our journey through valleys and beautiful landscapes to Soraypampa 3800m.s.n.m, where we spend the first night the highest and cold throughout our tour night.
DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA - CHAULLAY O COLLPAPAMPA
After breakfast very early and started our to the top of this trek 4650m walk in the path located between two mountains Salkantay right and left Tucarhuay the famous Umantay. 2 snow view after a break continue our walk through a cloud forest to Huayracpunku where we will have lunch, then headed toward our second camp Chaullay or Colcapampa 3000m.
DAY 3: CHAULLAY -SANTA TERESA - HIDROELECTRICA - AGUAS CALIENTES
We will have breakfast and leave our camp to santa teresa cross the bridge of Santa Teresa or oroya and following the route of the river. We continue walking past a variety of coca, banana etc. to reach the hydroelectric station and after lunch. We walked about two hours along the path of the train. Arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes where we will rest in a hostel that night. In hot water you can take thermal bath in the village (optional.)
DAY 4: MACHUPICCHU
We got up early in the morning about 4am to then have breakfast at 4:30 to make a trek to Machu Picchu which took an hour and half to Machu Picchu to appreciate the magnificent city as the sunrise. We have guided Maxhupicchu (about 2 hours) after this you can explore the mysterious city by yourself .if you still have energy you can also climb Huayna Picchu (2720m) and take 45 minutes to reach the top is optional. Return to Cusco.
